Prof. Dr. A. Skirtach

Andre Skirtach received MSc degree from Moscow State University of Lomonosov, Russia, and PhD degree from McGill University, Canada. Subsequently, he joined the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in Ottawa.
In 2000, Dr. Skirtach and colleagues were involved in establishing a prominent startup, Trillium Phot. Inc, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry of Canada & a co-founder of Intel and was backed by a California based venture capital firm.
He then moved to Max-Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Golm, Germany, later on becoming a Group Leader in the Department of Interfaces. Scientific research interests of Dr. Skirtach include nanotechnology and nanobiotechnology and their application in cell biology, nanoparticles and thermal effects at the nanoscale, polymeric capsules and particles for drug delivery and planar interfaces for implants, self-assembly and its applications.
Since 2011 Dr. Skirtach has become a Professor at the Department of Molecular Biotechnology, Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, University of Ghent, Belgium.
